Tennessee’s rules for pump work, in plain terms
Tennessee is stricter than many states. TDEC says anyone who installs or repairs well pumps must be licensed by its Division of Water Resources, and that plumbers, electricians and general contractors may not do that work unless they also hold the TDEC license. Licenses belong to individuals, not companies, and expire every July 31 (TDEC).
Before you hire, TDEC suggests asking whether the contractor will give a written contract, whether their insurance covers damage to your property, whether they can show their license certificate and references, and whether they will itemize the cost (TDEC). Then look the name up on TDEC’s licensed driller and installer list.
Where we fit: Johnson City Well Pump Repair is a referral service. We do not hold a TDEC license and do not do the work; the independent professional you hire is responsible for the license.
